Learn About Us
Balongating National High School is the oldest secondary school in Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur. It was established in 1968, squatting at the elementary school premises as an incomplete barangay high school, annex of then Nilo Barangay High School. It was funded from the tuition fees collected from the students and managed by Mr. Antonio P. Rimando, who was then an Elementary School Head Teacher. It started its operation with 15 first year students only.
On August 8, 1988, by virtue of Presidential proclamation, the school was transferred from its temporary location to its permanent 2-hectare school site at Purok Bonifacio, Balongating, Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur.
The school is located 500 meters away from the national road. It is bounded on the north by barangay Canunan; on the east by barangay Regla; on the south by barangay Poblacion Guipos; and on the west by barangay Sikatuna. It is 14.5 kilometers away from Pagadian City. It has a total land area of 20, 202 square meters. It is surrounded by six (6) elementary feeder schools from six (6) barangays (Balongating, Canunan, Baguitan, Sikatuna and Dacsol).
